What do you need a hand with? Short answers here, and a real person if you're still stuck.
Getting started
Free posts, your business card and how a week works.
What does Bennu do?
Bennu makes Instagram, Facebook and TikTok posts for your business, using your website and your own photos and clips.
You look through them on your phone and swipe to approve. Bennu posts them at good times and learns what brings you results.
How do the free posts work?
Paste your website and Bennu makes 3 posts for your business: 2 image posts and 1 carousel. No card needed. Free posts have no reels.
Each business gets free posts once. Nothing is published until you choose a plan.
My free posts didn't start or haven't arrived
The message on screen says what's wrong. The usual ones:
- "Check your inbox to confirm your email": tap the link or type the code from the email, then your free posts start.
- "This website has already had its free posts": each business gets them once. Pick a plan to keep going.
- "That looks like a throwaway email address": use your usual email.
- "Your free posts are queued": Bennu is busy, so we'll email you as soon as they're ready, usually by tomorrow.
- "Paste your own website": Bennu can't read social media or link-in-bio pages. Fill in your details yourself instead.
They usually take a few minutes. If none of these fit, email us and a person will look.
I don't have a website. Can I still use Bennu?
Yes. On the first step, tap "I don't have a website" and fill in your business card yourself. It takes a couple of minutes.
If you only have an Instagram or Facebook page, do the same. Bennu can't read social media pages.
What does a normal week look like?
Bennu makes each post the day before it goes out, so it can use what's working for you. New posts wait in Ready for you on Home.
Swipe right to approve and left to skip. Approved posts go out by themselves at the time shown on the post. On Monday you get a reminder when posts are waiting, at the time you picked.
How do I change what Bennu knows about my business?
In Account:
- "Edit business card" under Your style changes your details, services and photos.
- "On every post" holds your phone, booking link, closing line and area. Bennu keeps them on every post.
- Under Your voice, "Is this still right?" lists the qualifications, prices and guarantees from your website. Bennu only mentions the ones you tick.
When you save, Bennu updates the posts you haven't approved yet.
Can I send a voice note instead of typing?
Yes. In Account, tap "Tell Bennu more". Typing comes first, and under it you can tap "Or send a voice note" and just talk: what you do, where you work, what customers always ask, anything coming up.
Bennu turns it into text and shows you "Here's what I learned", one fact at a time. Keep what's right, remove anything that isn't, and add a note if you like. Only what you keep goes on your business card, and any dates go on Your year.
Bennu never adds a number, price or promise you didn't say.
Your posts
Approve, change, skip, the calendar and why a post changed.
How do I approve or skip a post?
Open Home. Posts waiting for you are under Ready for you.
- Swipe right, or tap Approve, and it goes out at the time shown.
- Swipe left, or tap Skip, and it won't go out.
- Changed your mind? Tap Undo within 8 seconds.
After a few approvals you can tap "Approve the rest". You can add a note to any post to tell Bennu why.
How do I change a post?
Tap Edit on the post. You can tap a quick button (Shorter, Add price, More local, Swap photo or Make it a reel) or tell Bennu what to change in your own words.
You see the change before you keep it, and Undo puts it back. Bennu only changes that one post.
What happens when I skip a post?
It won't go out, and it's kept as Skipped. Nothing is deleted.
You can pick a reason. If you skip for the same reason a few times in a month, Bennu changes how it makes your posts and tells you in Insights.
Can I stop a post I've already approved?
Yes, up to 10 minutes before it goes out. Open the post and tap "Pull it back". It comes back to Ready for you, so you can change it or skip it.
Once a post has gone out, Bennu can't take it down. Delete it in the Instagram, Facebook or TikTok app. If it shouldn't have gone out at all, email us.
How does the calendar work?
The Calendar tab shows your posts by Day, Week or Month. Drafts, scheduled posts and live posts look different, by shape as well as colour.
Tap any post to see it, change it or see how it did.
Why did a post change?
Usually one of these:
- "Freshened up with this week's learnings": posts made more than 7 days early get a quick check before they go out. If the change is bigger, like a new price, offer or claim, the post comes back to Ready for you and waits for your OK.
- You added a note, a rule or a new closing line: Bennu updates the posts you haven't approved yet, and tells you how many.
- Your own edits: the post keeps its earlier versions, and you can put one back.
Bennu never changes a post you've approved without asking again, unless you've turned on posting without your OK.
When does Bennu make my posts?
Each post is made the day before it goes out, so it uses the latest of what's working for you. You can also tap "Make my whole month now" on Home. Bennu shows you the plan first, then makes the rest of your paid posts in one go.
Bennu makes up to a month ahead so every post uses the latest trends and what's working for you. Nothing is made more than 30 days ahead.
Can Bennu post without asking me?
Only if you turn it on. In Account, under Posting, switch on "Post without waiting for my OK". It's off unless you choose it.
After 20 approvals in a row with no changes or skips, Bennu might offer it once. You can turn it off any time. Until then nothing goes out without your approval.
What does "Final check by our team" mean?
While our quality check is on, a person on our team looks at approved posts before they go out, to catch mistakes. It goes out once checked. You can still pull it back.
A post says "Problem: tap to fix"
It didn't go out. Open it and tap "Post now" to try again straight away.
Most of the time an account has disconnected. Tap "Check my accounts" and reconnect it. Your posts wait, and nothing is lost.
How do I turn a job I've just finished into a post?
On Home, tap "Job done". Take or choose up to three photos, mark each one as before, during or after, and write one line about the job, like "Rewired a kitchen in Didsbury". Tap "Make my post".
Bennu makes a before and after carousel, or an image post if there's one photo, using only your photos. It never makes fake job photos. The post comes to Ready for you like any other, uses one of your plan's posts, and only goes out once you approve it.
If this month's posts are all planned already, Bennu asks before using the job instead of a planned post that hasn't been made yet.
How do I ask a customer for a Google review?
First paste your Google review link once, in Account under Google reviews. You'll find it in your Google Business Profile under "Ask for reviews".
Then tap "Ask a customer for a review" on Home, or after a job. Bennu writes a short message with your link. You send it yourself from your phone, by text, WhatsApp or the share button, so it comes from you.
Bennu never messages your customers, and their name and number stay on your phone. It only counts how many requests you sent.
Can Bennu post a review a customer left me?
Yes. On the Reviews screen, paste a 5-star review exactly as they wrote it, add their first name and the initial of their surname, and tick to say they're happy to be quoted. Bennu posts it word for word, with their first name and initial only.
Bennu never makes up reviews or changes the words. If the customer changes their mind, skip the post in Ready for you, or delete it from your social accounts if it's already out.
How do I tell Bennu about busy times, sales or when I'm closed?
Open Your year from Calendar and tap "Add a date". Pick what it is (a busy season, a sale or offer, a launch, an event, or a time you're closed), give it a name and the dates, and switch on Every year if it comes round every year.
Bennu plans a post about a week before each date, and earlier for a busy season so customers book in time. When you're closed, it says so beforehand and never invites bookings for those days. If posts for those dates are already made, Bennu updates the ones you haven't approved.
Posts only mention the details you write. Bennu never makes up an offer, a price or opening times. It makes posts up to 30 days ahead, so dates further off are planned nearer the time.
Will Bennu post about bank holidays and my trade's busy times?
Yes, if they suit you. Your year lists the bank holidays for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, picked from your address, and you can change which. It also lists busy times for your trade, like boiler checks before winter or garden prep in spring.
Switch off any that don't suit you, and Bennu won't plan posts for them. It only says what's true for your business, so it won't announce opening times you haven't given.
Connecting Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
Getting connected, and fixing a connection that dropped.
How do I connect Instagram, Facebook and TikTok?
Right after you pay, Bennu takes you to the connect screen. Tap each one and log in on its own page. You can also do it any time in Account, under Connected accounts.
You log in on a secure page run by our posting partner. We never see your passwords.
Instagram won't connect. It says personal account or Facebook Page
Instagram only lets apps post to Business or Creator accounts that are linked to a Facebook Page.
- "Personal account": in the Instagram app, switch to a Business or Creator account, then try again.
- "Needs a Facebook Page": make a free Page on Facebook, link it to your Instagram, then try again.
- "Not linked to a Page": in the Instagram app, go to Edit profile, then Page, and pick your Page.
The connect screen walks you through it. Tap Allow on every screen it shows you.
My account disconnected. How do I fix it?
Logins to Instagram, Facebook and TikTok run out now and then. Bennu checks every few hours and emails you if one drops.
Go to Account, find the account under Connected accounts and tap Reconnect. It takes about a minute. Approved posts wait while it's disconnected, and go out once it's back.
Someone else runs our Instagram. Can they connect it?
Yes. On the connect screen, tap to send a link to whoever looks after your accounts. They don't need a Bennu account. The link lasts 7 days and stops working once everything is connected.
I connected the wrong account
After you connect, Bennu shows the account name and asks if it's the right one. If it isn't, go to Account, tap "Manage connections" and log in with your business account instead.
Which apps does my plan post to?
- Solo: TikTok, or Instagram and Facebook. Pick one of those.
- Starter: Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
- Pro: those three, plus one of YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn or Threads.
- Agency: as Pro, for every brand.
TikTok takes image posts and carousels as photo posts, and reels on plans that include them. TikTok adds a music track to photo posts, and you can change it in the TikTok app. YouTube Shorts only takes reels, so image posts and carousels go to your other apps.
Posts on TikTok show TikTok's "Promotional content" label, because they promote your own business and TikTok asks for that.
How do I disconnect everything?
The account owner can go to Account, then Connected accounts, and tap "Disconnect all accounts". Bennu stops posting everywhere straight away. Your posts and photos stay in Bennu, and you can connect again any time.
Plans and billing
Prices, the free week, pausing, changing plan, cancelling and refunds.
What do the plans cost?
- Solo: $29 a month. 12 posts: 6 image posts and 6 carousels.
- Starter: $49 a month. 20 posts, including 4 reels.
- Pro: $99 a month. 33 posts, including 10 reels.
- Agency: $79 a month for each brand, from 3 brands.
Yearly costs 10 times the monthly price, so two months are free. The price you see is the price you pay.
Do prices include VAT?
The price you see is the price you pay. We aren't registered for VAT, so no VAT is added.
How does the free week on yearly plans work?
Yearly plans start with a 7-day free trial. We take your card details but don't charge you until the trial ends. We email you on day 5 with the amount and the date.
- The trial week has no reels, just image posts and carousels, and only for dates in that week.
- Cancel before the trial ends and you aren't charged. Posts already out stay up, and unpublished trial posts are removed.
- One trial per business.
Monthly plans have no trial, but everyone can have the free posts first.
What happens to posts I don't use?
They roll over into your next month, up to one month's worth. Rolled-over posts are used first, and run out at the end of that next month. Pausing pushes that date back, so a quiet month never loses you posts.
Can I pause instead of cancelling?
Yes, for a month. In Account, tap Cancel plan, then "Pause until" and the date. You aren't charged while paused, nothing goes out and your posts wait for you.
We remind you 3 days before it ends, then Bennu starts again by itself. Tap "Resume now" in Account to start sooner. Only the account owner can pause, and only while your payments are up to date.
How do I change my plan?
In Account, under Plan and billing, tap "Manage billing". On that page you can switch plan, or move between monthly and yearly. You pay or get credit for the difference.
Your invoices and receipts are on that page too, and you can change your card there.
On Starter or Pro, the cancel screen also offers "Switch to Solo instead". For Agency, email us and we'll move your brands across.
If you're a founding member, switching plan ends your founding price.
How do I cancel?
In Account, tap Cancel plan, then confirm. Only the account owner can cancel. There's one optional question about why.
Your plan runs to the end of the time you've paid for, then stops. You won't be charged again. Posts that were booked are stopped, unless you choose "Make and schedule everything you've paid for first".
Change your mind? Tap "Restart my plan" in Account.
What is "use what you've paid for"?
When you cancel, Bennu offers to make and schedule everything you've paid for first: the rest of this period's posts, plus any rolled over.
They go out on their dates, up to 30 days after your plan ends. Approve them as usual, or tick "Post them without waiting for my OK". Bennu still only makes posts up to 30 days ahead.
Can I get a refund?
There's no general money back, because Bennu starts work as soon as you pay. Before paying you ticked: "Start now. I understand that if I cancel within 14 days I'll pay for the posts already made."
If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, Bennu refunds the share you haven't used. That's all of it if no post has been made yet, or less the posts already made. The cancel screen shows the amount before you confirm, and your plan ends straight away.
After 14 days we don't refund part of a month or year, but you keep everything until the end of the period. If we charged you wrongly, email us and we'll put it right.
Extras you haven't used, and a team voice place you paid for that nobody has recorded into yet, can be refunded within 14 days of buying. Email us and we'll refund it. A team voice place comes off your account as soon as the refund goes through.
My card payment didn't go through
We email you and show a note in the app with a one-tap link to update your card. Stripe tries again over the next week.
Your posts keep going out for 7 days. After that new posts wait until the payment works. Nothing is deleted.
What's a founding member?
The first 50 businesses to make a real payment are founding members. They keep their plan's price for as long as they stay on that plan and billing period, through pauses and renewals.
Switching plan, moving between monthly and yearly, or your plan ending after you cancel ends the founding price. You keep your number. A free trial or a 100% code doesn't count until a real payment is taken. Not sure if you're one? Email us and we'll check.
Can I get more posts this month?
Yes. In Account, under "Need more this month?", you can buy 1 extra reel ($12), 5 extra reels ($52), 5 extra image posts ($7) and 5 extra carousels ($8). They're one-off and added straight away. For reels, you can also swap 120 seeds for a bonus reel in the Nest's shop.
Rewards
Seeds, eggs, quests, streaks and levels.
What are seeds and how do I earn them?
Seeds are Bennu's thank you for using it. You earn them for real things:
- the daily gift in the Nest: 3 to 8 seeds
- sorting a whole week of posts: 15
- each new job photo or clip: 5, up to 20 a week
- answering one of Bennu's questions: 5
- rating a post that's gone out: 2
Swap them in the Nest's shop: an extra carousel for 20, an extra image post for 15, or a bonus reel from your clips for 120. Seeds can't be bought. You earn them by approving posts and keeping your streak. Short on seeds? On a paid plan, each item can also be bought as a normal top-up at the price shown next to it, the same as in Account. That buys the extra posts, never seeds. Seeds have no cash value.
What's inside an egg?
- A small egg holds seeds.
- A golden egg holds a bonus carousel.
- A big golden egg holds a bonus reel made from your own clips. It waits until you've added a clip.
Eggs come from welcome quests, streak milestones at 4, 12 and 26 weeks, and every fifth level. Tap the egg to crack it, or tap "Open it". Eggs and the shop open once you've paid, and seeds you earned before carry over.
How do quests work?
Welcome quests run for your first few days after paying. "Joined Bennu" is ticked as soon as you arrive. The others are things like finishing setup, connecting your accounts, booking your first post and sending Bennu on its first research trip. Each quest shows when it ends, and missed ones quietly disappear.
"Approve your first 5 posts" never runs out. It unlocks Baby Bennu, a second look you can wear from the Nest.
How does my streak work?
Approve at least one post in a week and your streak carries on.
Miss a week and Bennu covers it if it can: first with your free week off (one a month), then with a Nest warmer. Warmers cost 40 seeds, you can hold 2, and they're used automatically. If nothing covers it, it's "A light week". Approve 3 posts that week and your streak is mended.
I'm going away. What happens to my streak?
Turn on "Closed for a holiday" in Account or the Nest, for 1 to 14 days. It pauses your streak and Bennu's reminders. Your posts still go out. You can use it again 14 days after the last one.
If you want posting to stop too, pause your plan instead.
How do levels work, and why can't I see everything yet?
You earn XP for useful things: 10 for approving a post, 5 for a new photo or clip, 25 for a quest and 20 for each week your streak moves on. Up to 200 a day. XP is never spent.
There are 30 levels, each with its own title, and every fifth level brings an egg. Your nest grows with you: Twigs, cosy nest at level 8, big nest at level 16 and golden nest at level 25.
The Nest opens up bit by bit after your first payment: your streak after 7 days (once you've had a week with an approval), levels after 14 days and badges after 21 days. You can show up to 3 badges.
My seeds or rewards aren't showing
A few things to check:
- Rewards switched off? In Account, under Rewards, check "Hide rewards" is off.
- The same photo or clip only earns once, and uploads earn up to 20 seeds a week. Deleting an upload soon after takes its seeds back.
- Sorting a week needs at least one approval. Skipping every post doesn't count.
- Some rewards are checked every 15 minutes, so give it a little while.
- Before you pay, you earn seeds but eggs and the shop stay closed.
Still missing? Email us and we'll look it up.
How do I invite another business?
Open the Nest and find Invite. Share your link with another business owner. They get 50% off their first month on a monthly plan, or 10% off their first year.
When they've paid and stayed 14 days, you get a golden egg, 50 seeds and a free month off your next bill. Up to 12 free months a year.
Reels and your clips
How reels are made, and adding your photos and clips.
How are reels made?
From your own clips first, then your photos with a gentle pan and zoom. Each reel has at most 3 seconds of AI.
If there aren't enough clips, and fewer than 3 photos, Bennu makes a carousel instead and keeps the reel for later in the month.
Starter includes 4 reels a month and Pro 10. Solo, the free posts and the free week have no reels.
How do I add my photos and clips?
In Account, under Photos and videos, tick the box to confirm you're allowed to use them, then tap "Add photos or clips". Before and after shots of real jobs work best.
Photos can be JPEG, PNG or WEBP up to 15 MB. Clips can be MP4 or MOV up to 200 MB.
Can Bennu use only my own photos?
Yes. In Account, under Photos and videos, pick where your pictures come from: Only mine, Mine and AI, or All AI. Reels are always made from your own clips and photos, whatever you pick.
Your voice
Who reads your reels, and sounding like you.
Who reads my reels, and can I change the voice?
In Account, under Your voice, pick the voice for your reels from a short list of UK, Irish, American and Australian voices, with your own country's at the top. Tap Play to hear one first. New reels use the one you pick.
How do I make posts sound like me?
In Account, under Your voice:
- Pick "Just me" or "a team", so posts say "I" or "we".
- Paste 2 or 3 of your old posts. Bennu uses them for how you sound, never as facts.
Every change you make to a caption teaches Bennu too.
Can my reels be read in my own voice?
Yes. In Account, under Your voice for reels, tap "Record my voice". You read a short script out loud, about 60 to 90 seconds, starting with a line saying you're happy for Bennu to use your voice. It's recorded in the app, never uploaded.
For each reel Bennu makes a temporary AI copy of your voice and deletes it straight after. Reels in a copied voice are always labelled as made with AI, even if you've switched the AI label off. Your first voice is free.
Can a team member's voice read our reels?
Yes. In Account, under Your voice for reels, add a team member's voice for 200 seeds or $4 once. You can have up to 9. They record it themselves, on their own phone, through a private link that lasts 7 days. If nobody has recorded into a place you paid for, email us within 14 days and we'll refund it.
How do I delete a recorded voice?
In Account, under Your voice for reels, tap Delete on the voice. The recording, the sample and any AI copy are deleted, and new reels go back to a house voice. Reels already out keep their sound, so delete them on your social accounts if you want.
AI and honesty
What's made with AI, labels and what Bennu never makes.
What does Bennu make with AI?
AI plans your month and writes the captions and carousel text. It makes images only if you choose AI or mixed pictures, and at most 3 seconds of video in a reel. Voiceovers are AI voices.
You approve every post before it goes out, unless you've turned on posting without your OK.
Are AI posts labelled?
Yes, by default. When a post uses AI images or AI video, Bennu tells Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, so they show their AI label. Posts made only from your own photos and clips are never labelled.
You can switch this off in Account under Posting ("Label AI-made posts"). Instagram and TikTok may still add their own label to realistic AI images. Instagram's label can't be changed after a post goes out.
Will Bennu make fake photos of my work?
No. Bennu never makes fake before and after photos, fake job photos or realistic AI people. People in your posts are you, your team or customers in your own photos.
"You as a character" is a clearly cartoon version of you, made only from a photo you add and tick permission for. Bennu never writes fake reviews or made-up customer stories.
How does Bennu keep the facts right?
Bennu only uses the prices, offers and claims on your business card and website. Qualifications like Gas Safe or NICEIC are only mentioned once you've ticked them under "Is this still right?" in Account.
AI can still get things wrong, so please read each post before you approve it. If something's wrong, tap Edit, or skip it and pick the wrong facts reason.
Privacy and your data
Download or delete your data, examples and cookies.
How do I download my data?
In Account, under Your data and privacy, find "Download my data". Tap Download for one file now, or "Email it to me" for a link that works for 7 days. You can ask 3 times a day.
How do I delete my account?
The account owner can go to Account, then Your data and privacy, and tap "Delete my account". Type DELETE to confirm. You might be asked to sign in again first.
We delete everything 7 days after you ask. Until then, tap "Keep my account" to change your mind. Invoices stay with Stripe for 6 years, because tax law says so. Posts already out stay on your social accounts, so delete them there if you want them gone.
Will my posts be shown to other people as examples?
Only if you say yes. In Account, under Your data and privacy, the account owner can switch on "Let Bennu show my best posts as examples". It's off unless you turn it on.
Bennu then picks a few posts that have already gone out and done well, and shows them on its website with your business name and town. Switch it off and they come down straight away.
What cookies does Bennu use?
Essential ones that keep you signed in. With your OK, also Meta and TikTok ad cookies, so we can see which of our ads work. Nothing for ads loads before you say yes.
Change your mind any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the page. We ask again after 180 days.
What do you keep after I cancel?
Your business card, what Bennu has learned and your library are kept for 90 days, so if you come back everything is as you left it. About 30 days after you cancel, we send one email saying what's still saved.
After 90 days your photos, clips and media are deleted. Posts already out stay on your social accounts.
Can I post photos with customers or children in them?
Only if everyone who can be recognised is happy to be posted, and for anyone under 18 a parent or guardian has agreed. You tick to confirm this each time you upload.
If someone asks you to take a photo down, delete it from your social accounts and email us to remove it from Bennu.
What happens to my voice note?
Bennu turns your voice note into text with a speech-to-text provider in the United States, who does this for us, then deletes the recording straight away. That happens even if something goes wrong.
The text and the facts Bennu found stay only until you save or tap Not now, then they're deleted too. If you leave them, they're deleted after a month. Only the facts you keep are saved, on your business card.
A voice note is never used to copy your voice. That's a separate choice in Account.
Your account
Signing in, your team and notifications.
How do I sign in?
Go to the sign-in page and type your email. We email you a 6-digit code. Type it in and you're in. You can also tap the link in the email. It works on any phone, in any browser.
My sign-in code didn't arrive or doesn't work
- Check your spam or junk folder, and check the email address is right.
- Wait a minute, then tap "Send a new code". Always use the newest code.
- "That code has run out": ask for a new one.
- "Too many tries": wait 15 minutes, then ask for a new code.
- "That link has run out": go back to sign in and ask for a new code.
Still nothing? Email us from the address you signed up with.
Can my team use Bennu?
Bennu has one sign-in per business at the moment. If someone else looks after your Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, send them a connect link from the connect screen. They don't need an account.
Only the account owner can change the plan, pause, cancel or delete the account.
How do I change reminders and emails?
In Account, under Notifications. Problems, like a post that didn't go out, are always on. You choose the rest: posts waiting for your OK, Bennu's tips, the Monday reminder, the monthly results email, and the welcome, invite and voice emails.
Under "When do you usually have 2 minutes?", pick the time your reminders come. Every email also has a link to stop that kind. Stopping the welcome, invite and voice emails never stops emails about posts waiting for your OK.
Can I make Bennu quieter, or change what it calls me?
In Account, under Bennu, switch on "Quiet Bennu" and it stays in its corner apart from problems. Tips are rare anyway: one a day at most.
"What should Bennu call you?" sets your first name. Leave it empty and Bennu just says hello.
