Terms of service
Last updated 8 November 2026
The short version. Bennu makes and publishes social media posts for your business. You own your posts. You approve them before they go out. You promise the photos you upload are yours to use, and that the people in them are happy to be there. We never boost posts or buy ads for you, and we can’t promise results. You can cancel in two taps.
Please read the full terms below. They form a legal agreement between your business and us.
1. About these terms
Bennu is run by the owner of Bennu. Our registered office is available on request from help@heybennu.com. You can reach us at help@heybennu.com.
These terms apply when you use Bennu at heybennu.com or in the Bennu app. They include our acceptable use policy, our refunds and cancellation page and our AI and your content page. Our privacy policy explains how we use personal data.
Bennu is made for businesses, including sole traders. When we say “you”, we mean the business that signs up and the person signing up for it. If you sign up for a business, you confirm you are allowed to agree to these terms for it.
If you use Bennu mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession, you are a consumer and you have extra rights. Section 21 explains them.
2. Using Bennu
- You must be 18 or over.
- Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us straight away at help@heybennu.com if you think someone else has got in.
- The person who creates the account is its owner. Only the owner can change or cancel the plan.
3. Free posts
Before you pay, Bennu reads your website and makes up to 3 free posts so you can see what it does. Free posts are images and carousels only. No payment is taken.
Each business gets free posts once. We may refuse free posts, for example to a website that has already had them, a throwaway email address or a sign-up that looks automated. Free posts are published only once you choose a plan.
4. Plans, allowances and extras
- Your plan gives you a number of posts each month, a mix of formats and a set of platforms, as shown when you choose it. Prices are shown in pounds, euros or dollars depending on where you are.
- Agency plans are priced per brand, with a minimum of 3 brands.
- Unused allowance rolls over into the next month, up to one month’s allowance. Rolled-over posts expire at the end of that next month. A paused month or a quiet week never loses you allowance.
- We only make posts for time you’ve paid for. A post dated after your current paid period is made once your next payment goes through. You will see “Ready to make once your payment goes through” on it.
- You can set up as much as you like. “Make my whole month now” makes the rest of your paid allowance in one go.
- Extras, such as extra reels or image posts, are one-off purchases added to your allowance as described when you buy them.
- Team voices. Your own recorded voice is free. Each extra voice for someone on your team is a one-off £3 ($4, €3.50), or 200 seeds, up to 10 voices per business. Each person records their own voice and says their own consent line through their own private link. If a voice is deleted, its place stays yours, so you can invite someone else without paying again.
- Bennu never makes a post more than 30 days before it goes out, on any plan. Yearly plans are made month by month.
- Fair use limits apply to redos and changes, so the service stays affordable for everyone.
5. Paying and renewing
- Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see your full card number.
- You pay in advance, monthly or yearly. A yearly plan costs 10 times the monthly price.
- Yearly free trial. A yearly plan may start with a 7-day free trial. We take your card details at the start but don’t charge you until the trial ends. Trial posts are images and carousels only, and only for dates in the trial week. We email you on day 5 with the amount and the date of the first payment. Cancel before the trial ends and you won’t be charged. Posts already published stay up, and unpublished trial posts are removed. One trial per business. If a business has already had one, the trial ends straight away and the first payment is taken then, and we tell you.
- Your plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and we take the payment from your card, until you cancel.
- We remind you before every renewal. At least 7 days before each payment, we email you the amount and the date, with a link to cancel or change your plan.
- The price you see is the price you pay. We aren’t registered for VAT, so no VAT is added.
- If a payment fails, we tell you and try again. Your posts keep going out for 7 days. After that, new posts are held until the payment goes through. Nothing is deleted.
- If we change our prices, we will email you at least 30 days before. The new price applies from your next renewal after that, and you can cancel before it does.
- Founding members. The first 50 businesses to make a real payment for a Bennu plan are founding members. A free trial or a 100% discount code doesn’t count until a real payment is taken. Each founding place is given once, in the order payments go through.
- What’s locked: the price of the plan you joined on, monthly or yearly, as it was when you joined. We never raise it while that plan carries on, including through pauses and renewals. If you’re on Agency, adding or removing brands keeps the same price for each brand.
- Changing plan: the founding price is for the plan and billing period you joined on. If you switch to another plan, or between monthly and yearly, you pay that plan’s normal price from then on, and the founding price ends. Switching back later doesn’t bring it back.
- Cancelling: the founding price ends when your plan ends after you cancel. If you cancel and then change your mind before your plan ends, nothing changes. If you come back after your plan has ended, you pay the normal price at that time. You keep your founding number, but not the founding price.
6. Cancelling and pausing
- Cancel any time in two taps in Account. Your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for, then stops. You won’t be charged again.
- Use what you’ve paid for. Before you cancel, you can ask Bennu to make and schedule everything you’ve paid for first. That’s the rest of this period’s allowance plus any rollover. Those posts go out on their dates, up to 30 days after your paid period ends.
- If you don’t choose that, posts that were booked are stopped when you cancel, so nothing else goes out.
- Pause instead. You can pause for a month. You aren’t charged, nothing goes out, your allowance waits for you and Bennu starts again by itself after the month. We remind you 3 days before.
- Coming back. We keep your business card, what Bennu has learned and your library for 90 days after your plan ends. After 90 days your photos, clips and media are deleted.
Your first 14 days. Bennu is sold for business use and starts as soon as you pay. Before paying you tick to confirm: “Start now. I understand that if I cancel within 14 days I’ll pay for the posts already made.” If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we refund it in full if no post has been made or published. Otherwise we refund the share of posts not yet made. Posts already published are not refunded.
Refunds are covered in full on our refunds and cancellation page.
7. Your content is yours
- You own what you upload: your photos, clips, logo, text and the photo of you.
- You own the posts Bennu makes for you. If we have any rights in a post, we transfer them to you when it is made. You can keep using your posts after you leave.
- So that we can run Bennu for you, you give us permission to store, copy, edit, crop, caption, combine and publish your content to the accounts you connect. This permission is only for running Bennu for you. It ends when the content is deleted, except for posts already published on your accounts.
- We never use your photos, videos or posts in posts for another customer, and we never show them to other customers.
- We won’t use your posts in our own marketing unless you say yes first.
Posts made with AI may look like posts made for others, and the law on who owns AI-made material is still developing. Our AI and your content page explains this.
8. Your promises about what you upload
You are responsible for what you upload and approve. You promise that:
- you own the photos, clips and other material you upload, or you have permission to use them in posts (for example from the photographer, or under a stock licence)
- everyone who can be recognised in your photos and clips has agreed to appear in your posts. When you upload, we ask you to tick a box to confirm this
- for anyone under 18, a parent or guardian has agreed
- if you upload a photo for “You as a character”, it is a photo of you, or of someone who has agreed to it, and you tick a box to confirm this
- you have permission to show the places in your photos, such as a customer’s home, and you have removed anything private, such as addresses, house numbers or number plates, where it matters
- before and after photos are real and show your own work
- reviews and testimonials you share are real, and the customer is happy for you to share them. When you paste a review for Bennu to turn into a post, you tick a box to confirm the customer agreed to be quoted, and the review is posted word for word with their first name and initial
- when you ask a customer for a review through Bennu, you send it from your own phone to someone who has used your business, and you only ask people who would welcome it
- the facts about your business are true, including prices, qualifications, memberships and guarantees
- nothing you upload breaks the law, someone else’s rights or our acceptable use policy
If someone asks you to stop using a photo of them, delete it from Bennu and from your social accounts.
If you are a business customer and someone makes a claim against us because you broke these promises, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim. We will tell you about the claim promptly and let you help deal with it.
9. Approving and publishing
- You approve each post before it goes out. Please check it, especially prices, dates, offers and claims.
- If you turn on automatic posting, posts go out without waiting for you. You can turn it off at any time.
- While our quality check is on, a person on our team may look at approved posts before they go out. This is to catch mistakes. It doesn’t move responsibility for the post to us.
- Approved posts are published to your connected accounts at the times Bennu picks. Social networks can delay or refuse a post, and we will tell you when that happens.
10. Your social accounts
- You connect your accounts through our publishing partner’s secure page. We never ask for or store your social media passwords.
- Each social network has its own rules. You agree to follow them, including their rules on AI labels, branded content and promotions.
- We don’t control the social networks. They can change how they work, limit how many people see a post, remove a post, ask you to verify your account, or restrict, suspend or close an account, at any time and for their own reasons.
- We are not responsible for what a social network does to your account or your posts, or for any loss that follows, unless it was caused by us breaking these terms. Even then, section 20 limits what we are responsible for.
- If a network stops working with our publishing partner, or changes what it allows, we may have to change or stop publishing to it. We will tell you as soon as we can.
11. We never boost or buy ads
We never boost posts, buy ads or spend money on your behalf. Bennu only publishes the posts you approve, to your own accounts. Any paid promotion is your decision, made by you directly with the social network.
12. No guarantee of results
Bennu learns what brings your business results and adjusts your posts over time. But social media reach depends on many things we don’t control, including the networks’ own systems. We don’t promise any number of views, followers, enquiries, bookings or sales. Any numbers we show are your real results, not a forecast.
13. AI
Bennu uses AI to plan, write and make posts. AI can get things wrong, so please check each post before you approve it. Posts that use AI images or video are labelled as AI on the networks by default. You can switch this off in Account, but then it’s up to you to follow each network’s rules on AI labels. Our AI and your content page has the details.
14. How we improve Bennu
We look at anonymised, aggregated patterns in how the service is used across all customers. For example, how often a type of post is approved or skipped, the kinds of changes people ask for, and how post formats perform compared with each business’s own typical results. We use these patterns to improve the service for everyone. They contain no captions, photos, videos, business names or contact details. They are only used once at least five businesses share the same pattern. Your content is never shared with, shown to or used in posts for any other customer.
15. Rewards and referrals
Seeds, eggs and badges
- You earn seeds, eggs and badges by using Bennu, for example by sorting your week, uploading job photos or answering Bennu’s questions. You can swap seeds for bonus posts in the Nest.
- Seeds, eggs and badges are only ever earned. Seeds can’t be bought with money.
- On a paid plan, each item in the Nest’s shop can also be bought as a normal top-up at the price shown next to it (for example 5 extra image posts). That is a payment for extra posts, the same as a top-up in Account. It doesn’t buy seeds.
- Seeds and other rewards have no cash value. They can’t be sold, transferred, swapped for money or used outside Bennu.
- Bonus posts depend on a monthly limit. When it’s reached, an egg gives you extra seeds instead of a post.
- Unused rewards end when your account is deleted.
- We may correct rewards given by mistake and remove rewards gained by cheating. We may change or end the rewards scheme, and we will give you notice first.
Referrals
- Share your link with another business. They get half price on their first month of a monthly plan.
- You get a golden egg and 50 seeds when they’ve paid their first bill and are still with us 14 days later. Starting their free posts earns nothing on its own.
- When they have paid their first bill and are still with us 14 days later, you get a free month. This is a credit equal to one month of your plan, taken off your next Bennu bill. It has no cash value and can’t be paid out.
- You can earn up to 12 free months a year.
- If their payment is refunded or charged back within 14 days, the free month doesn’t apply.
- You can’t refer yourself or your own business. We check things like the account, website, email domain and card used, and we may refuse or remove rewards for referrals that don’t look genuine.
- Only share your link with people who would welcome it. Don’t spam.
16. Acceptable use
You agree to follow our acceptable use policy. In short: nothing illegal, harmful, misleading or that uses other people’s work or images without permission, and no abuse of Bennu itself.
17. What belongs to us
We own Bennu itself: the software, the app, our methods for planning and writing posts, our templates, and the Bennu name and bird. These terms don’t give you any rights in them, except to use Bennu as described here. Please don’t copy, take apart or try to extract how Bennu works.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely to improve Bennu.
18. Changes
We improve Bennu all the time, so features may change. If we make a change that is clearly worse for you, such as removing a main feature of your plan, we will tell you at least 30 days before and you can cancel.
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before then.
19. Suspending or closing an account
We may pause or close your account, or remove content, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if you don’t pay, if the law requires it, or if your use puts other people or Bennu at risk. Where it’s reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.
If we close your account without you having broken these terms, we will refund any payment for time you haven’t used.
You can close your account at any time by cancelling and emailing help@heybennu.com to ask us to delete your data.
20. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
If you are a business customer:
- We provide Bennu with reasonable care and skill. Apart from that, and what these terms say, we don’t make other promises about it.
- We are not responsible for loss of profit, sales, business, revenue, goodwill or opportunity, or for any indirect loss.
- We are not responsible for actions a social network takes on your account or posts, as section 10 explains.
- We are not responsible for problems caused by content you uploaded or approved, by you breaking these terms, or by events outside our reasonable control, such as a network or provider outage.
- Keep your own copies of anything important. We are not responsible for data you lose if you could have kept a copy.
- Our total responsibility to you in any 12 months, however it arises, is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the thing that caused the loss.
21. If you are a consumer
- You have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. We must provide Bennu with reasonable care and skill, and the posts and other digital content we make must be as described and of satisfactory quality. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. Citizens Advice can tell you more.
- We are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care. We are not responsible for business losses, because Bennu is made for business use.
- The promise to cover our losses in section 8 doesn’t apply to you.
- You can cancel within 14 days. Because you ask Bennu to start straight away, you pay for the posts already made and we refund the rest. Our refunds and cancellation page explains how.
22. Agencies
If you use Bennu to run social media for clients, you are responsible for having your clients’ permission, for their content meeting these terms, and for their brand being run in line with these terms. Your clients don’t have an agreement with us. Our data processing agreement applies to personal data you handle for them through Bennu.
23. Complaints, disputes and law
If you’re unhappy, email help@heybennu.com. We will reply within 5 working days and try to sort it out quickly.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you are a consumer living in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim there.
24. The legal bits
- These terms, and the pages they mention, are the whole agreement between us about Bennu.
- If a court finds part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can’t transfer this agreement to someone else without our permission. We may transfer it to a business that takes over Bennu, and we will tell you if we do. This won’t reduce your rights.
- Nobody else has rights under these terms.
